Welcome to St Pauls Walden Nursery
Serving, Whitwell, Codicote, Kimpton, Hitchin & Knebworth.
We are a friendly village nursery located in the village of Whitwell, near Hitchin. The children attending are aged between 2 and 5 years and come from the village of Whitwell, other surrounding villages and hamlets and the towns of Hitchin and Luton. From here the children go to a variety of schools in the area.
We are a private, community run nursery, based in a classroom at St. Paul’s Walden Primary school. We are lucky enough to be able to use the school hall and playing field as well as join in with some school events.
The nursery is registered with Ofsted, is a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance and is working towards a Herts Quality Standards (HQS) kitemark of quality.
Our setting aims to:
- Provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age;
- work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop;
- add to the life and well-being of the local community; and
- offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity.
We provide a rich and varied programme of activities and experiences which are appropriate to the children’s age and stage of development. At nursery, we continually observe, listen to and assess the children in our care. This enables us to record their achievements in each of the 6 areas of learning as set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Each child has their own ‘Learning Journey’ folder in which we record their progress, the observations and assessments that we do enable us to plan activities and provide resources that will extend each individual child’s learning and development.
