Our children love to join in on our fun rhymes used to remember the SATPIN phonics. By creating a rhyme the older children remember how to start to form the letter and identify it in text
Our curriculum focuses on the introduction of phonics, so we start by introducing synthetic phonics using a fun and active approach to build vocabulary and promote children’s interest in reading.
Our aim is to give children the best start in in the early stages of their reading journey so they have the best tools to further this at school. We practice sounds and words together using their own experiences, so the children are confident and equipped when it comes to reading and writing in their future goals.
Weekly Plan:
Monday:
Introduce your sound of the week. Use the fun rhyme to explain how the letter sounds
Tuesday:
Read your focus book with the phonic of the week, using ‘my turn, your turn’ let the children read parts of the story.
Wednesday:
Tracing and forming the letter
Thursday:
Find other familiar words starting with your focus sound
Friday:
Revisit the week’s plan and recap the sound, rhyme and story!
